About

This is a little page for non-career interest (even though they are still pretty close). Besides pursuing robotics, I am interested in different forms of fitness, supporting my family, and improving myself as a human. Sometimes it is a struggle to do all those things at once, robotics is hard by itself!

Philosophies and Advice for any other Students or Peers

While it is impossible to give specified advice to people you don't know, general advice can do! Here are some things that I attribute to my current success/opportunities in college and life.

  1. Listen to the right people

More thoroughly — don't listen to people who are telling you that you can't do something, don't listen to people who don't do what you want to do, and listen to those who love you! You will meet plenty of negative people, and that's okay! But you shouldn't let anyone feed you bad advice.

  2. Always be the most interested person in the room

A lot of opportunity comes from someone giving you a chance, and while that is a lot of luck, you need to make that as easy as possible. So ask questions, meet people, show your motivation and interest — because that is something you can't teach. And while you might not be the smartest person in the room, you can be the most interested.

  3. If you want things that aren't average, you need to do things that aren't average.

Research what makes someone qualified or hire-able in your stage of life and industry, and do that thing. Work hard when other people don't — while that is easier said than done, consistent effort multiplied by time will get you very far.

  4. Your job is to accomplish your dreams, not hinder them

In life you might not feel ready all the time. You might not feel qualified to interview, or even apply, or even talk to the people. But it is VERY important to know that is NOT your job. Your job is to work hard, represent yourself, and try your best. If people give you a chance, it is not your job to second guess that.

A lot of these things look different for everyone but I hope these ideas resonate with you.
